The most disturbing trend in news reporting about the assault on public schools is the systematic failure to mention highly relevant facts: i.e Reporter Kyle Stokes' piece at KPCC 89.3 FM: What should LAUSD do about its balloon in benefits costs? Nowhere, is the easily verifiable fact that for the last 8 years LAUSD has dealt with the 'budget 'problem' by illegally targeting senior teachers, through fabricated charges. Removing teacher-practitioners at the top of the salary scale, or those about to vest in health or other retirement benefits is the 'ploy' to balance a budget that is billions of dollars in the red, saving $60,000 a year in salary & benefits per experienced, teacher. This is the unequivocal motivation for targeting employees. When the system fails as the real teachers are thrown to the dogs, the schools can be handed over to for profit corporations.
