This article discusses what the effect of neoliberal policy has been
on emigration from Russia, the Baltic States, and Greece, and what
we can expect here in the United States if the 2016 election results in a
Trump or Clinton victory.
Columbia University’s Mailman School of Public
Health in New York estimates that 875,000 deaths in the United States in
the year 2000 could be attributed to social factors related to poverty
and income inequality.
According to U.S. government statistics, 2.45 million Americans died in
the same year. These data imply that social deprivation could account
for some 36% of the total US deaths in 2000. This is an ominous finding
that would likely result in mass emigration from the US in search of a
better life if history is a credible predictor.
It is imperative that the Democratic Party nominee not be based on rigged primary results.
