Mayor Pete talked a good game on healthcare. He said let's not force folk to give up their insurance and take Medicare-for-All. Let them decide.
But it's not that simple. This Washington Post report digs deep to show Mayor Pete says everyone must pay -- and even more than the controversial individual mandate that came with Obamacare for people who didn't want to get health insurance and got slapped with a fine.
Under Mayor Pete's plan, you either keep what you've got, or the government puts you into the Medicare-type public option. If you don't want it or use it, you will get a retroactive bill at the end of the year because the government enrolled you anyway. That bill, the Post says, can be much higher than the fines imposed under Obamacare.
Maybe Bernie and Elizabeth will go at him on this at the next debate.
