Former Rhode Island governor Lincoln Chafee ended his candidacy for the Democratic nomination for president on Friday, becoming the second long-shot Democrat since last Tuesday’s debate to end his bid for the nomination. Chafee joins former Virginia senator Jim Webb in withdrawing from the race, although Webb has said he is considering running as an independent. Asked about the timing of his decision, Chafee later told reporters: “Obviously it’s a good week for Secretary Clinton.”
