The first Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC) will take place on Friday Dec 2nd and Saturday Dec 3rd. CELAC represents a consolidation of UNASUR from 12 to 33 member nations whose leaders have agreed to form a political block. This historic meeting of Latin America and the Caribbean -- without the U.S. and Canada -- will sound the death knell for the old colonial Organization of the American States (OAS).
