Much has been said about Alice Walker in recent weeks, none of it good. It was her turn to get churned through the gristmill of Zionist slander, pummelled with recycled accusations of anti-Semitism after she mentioned reading And the Truth Shall Set You Free (1995) by David Icke, a book widely regarded as anti-Semitic. [I think Icke is a mix of T and F. Mainly F in the end. But AW is right on. IMVSO, dg]

Zionist is an "offensive word"? According to the pop-up I got on this link.

But I leave this to Rob Kall to define, as he has said he would do in a message to me: "... no more articles or quicklinks that I will take as antisemitic. I find your explanation that you are raising questions to be dubious at best."

Sad to say, he offered no more in terms of explanations.

I only ask Rob to define, in advance, what we should consider "anti-semitism." I greatly look forward to his definition so I don't overstep the bounds here, on a site I have been posting on and reading since at least 2003.

Thank you Rob, in advance.

I have been sitting on this for some time now, but after much thought and sleeping on it, I am putting it to print here.

This is pure, unadulterated anti-semitic bullshit Dan.

I'm deleting it. it is highly offensive and really way below you.

I'm offended. Are you trying to piss me off. it is totally unsupported garbage.

Why would . you . post such stuff, which would fit fine on one of the aryan nation sites.

Here is the link click here that I trust intelligent readers to decide for themselves. I had a ? after it, as I was looking for intelligent responses, rather than draconian and dictatorial.

I greatly fear that Rob's take on things is greatly distorted in this department. I seek answers and bread, not stones and Netanyahu responses.

Zionists are working very hard to make themselves blameworthy. Maybe when the last Palestinian has been forced to "go live with his Arab brothers" we can speak openly, even in polite society.

Jim, "Zionists are working very hard to make themselves blameworthy" is an understatement. They are and have succeeded in obtaining a unanimous congressional vote with only one vote against in a bill sponsored by

It appears that even our new progressive congress members have capitulated to this assault against the First amendment; Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances.

House Bill Forces Trump to Nominate "Anti-Semitism Envoy" Who Would Monitor Criticism of Israel

The position of anti-Semitism envoy was created in 2004 over the objections of the State Department, which said it wasn't needed. It was urged by Israeli Minister for Diaspora Affairs Natan Sharansky, who had formulated a new definition of anti-Semitism that includes criticism of Israel.

By Alison Weir

January 14, 2019 "Information Clearing House" - The U.S. House of Representatives voted 411-1for a bill that would force President Trump to nominate an anti-Semitism envoy, a position that has been vacant since he took office. The definition of anti-Semitism the position usesincludes certain criticisms of Israel.

The bipartisan bill upgrades the current position of Anti-Semitism Envoy to an ambassador rank, which requires the job to be filled within 90 days.

The law states that the Special Envoy shall "serve as the primary advisor to, and coordinate efforts across, the U.S. government relating to monitoring and combating anti-Semitism and anti-Semitic incitement in foreign countries."

The bill, H.R.221- Special Envoy to Monitor and Combat Anti-Semitism Act, was sponsored by Rep. Christopher H. Smith [R-NJ-4] and has 87 co-sponsors. Smith's largest campaign donor was NorPAC, a pro-Israel political action committee.

To become law the bill must next be passed by the Senate and then be signed by the president. If Trump vetoes it, Congress can override this through a two-thirds vote.

The position of anti-Semitism envoy was created in 2004 over the objections of the State Department, which said it wasn't needed. It was urged by Israeli Minister for Diaspora Affairs Natan Sharansky, who had formulated a new definition of anti-Semitism that includes criticism of Israel.

Previous envoys before or after serving in the position worked for the Israel lobbying organization AIPAC, the American Israel Public Affairs Committee.

sieg heil, nazi generals!

Netanyahu challenger Benny Gantz faces Dutch war crimes case Adri Nieuwhof, Electronic Intifada, Jan 14 2019

Maj-Gen 'Benny' Gantz is seen as the main contender to unseat PM Netanyahu in Israel's upcoming elections. But the former IOF chief is currently being sued in the Netherlands for bombing the home of the Ziada family during Israel's 2014 onslaught in Gaza.

An Israeli airstrike destroyed the house in the al-Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza on Jul 20 2014, killing six members of the Ziada family and a seventh person who was visiting at the time. Palestinian-Dutch citizen Ismail Ziadalost his 70-year-old mother Muftia Ziada, three brothers, a sister-in-law and a 12-year-old nephew. Ziada holds Gantz and Amir Eshel, then IAF chief, responsible for the decision to drop the bomb.

Last year, Ziada's lawyers summoned Gantz and Eshel to appear on Jul 27 in a Dutch court to answer the charges. The lawsuit demands more than $600k in damages plus court costs from the Israeli generals. Shortly before that date, the commanders appointed a lawyer to represent them, thus avoiding a default judgment in Ziada's favor. Ziada's lawyers, human rights and war crimes experts Liesbeth Zegveld and Lisa-Marie Komp, argue that the attack on the Ziada home was part of Israel's "policy to bomb civilian residential buildings" in "breach of international humanitarian law."

According to the complaint, Gantz and Eshel were among the top leaders who "designed the policy of bombing residential buildings" and are "fully responsible for the decision to bomb the Ziada family residence." In November, the generals' lawyers submitted a response which ignored Ziada's key argument that the bombing of the family home was illegal and a war crime under international law. Instead, the generals claim a right to immunity. They also dispute the jurisdiction of the Dutch court based on the claim that Ziada could seek justice in Israel. But as Zegveld told EI:

There is an utter lack of any remedy for Palestinians. Israeli courts are factually closed to Palestinians.

Tip of the Iceberg, Dave has addressed part of this in his OEN article; Criminalizing BDS and free speech: US Politicians are Selling Out the 1st Amendment and Their County for AIPAC cash By Dave Lindorff

But now Congress, larded with corrupt politicians of both parties besotted by bribes called campaign contributions, and frightened by the threat of attacks by powerful entities with money to burn on negative ads against them in election years, as well as many similarly corrupt state legislatures (26 at recent count), are cravenly voting to pass legislation supported by Israel's lobby in the US, the America Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC).

These laws criminalize the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) movement that is trying to pressure Israel to stop oppressing Palestinians in the occupied West Bank, Gaza and in Israel, and to stop stealing Palestinian land in the West Bank and return what's already been stolen.

For a long list of Zionist attacks on their neighbors and our nation's constitution and laws such as no funding to any nuclear power that has not signed the non-nuclear proliferation treaty, here.

DA: Are you accusing me of being a liar?!

Ok, just kidding. Short answer: Yes.

Which I want to immediately add to. OEN remains one of my favorite sites, even when I see articles I think shouldn't be there. But it runs on a shoestring budget, has volunteer editors (all, as far as I know), and I most highly commend Rob not just for getting this site started and kept running through a few zillion aches and pains. I came here early on, as it was in the top two or three for closer looks at 9/11, among many other things. I am also quick to note that anyone reading Rob's bio I think should be as impressed as I am; he has devoted his life to progressive ideas and agendas.

On the topics of anti-Semitism, Zionism, and offshoots thereof, it is tragically easy to get bashed around. There has been a bit of a running dialogue, on and off, about this topic generally between Rob and me. It is terribly easy when pressed for time and trying to do ten things at once to give knee jerk reactions, as I assume this one to be. Jehovah knows, I've made enough of those myself!

My frustration is trying to understand the deeper roots of many things, particularly at age 71 and realizing how brainwashed I've been in so many areas. Hey, try 12 years of strict Catholic school, with a strict Catholic mother! I've gotten fairly well past the mighty big chip on my shoulder on that and how it adversely influenced my life and that of the large Catholic family I come from. I realize these kinds of things run deep and, for myself, I feel I was imprinted like Conrad Lorenz's ducks, to where I still can't sort some of my own actual thinking from some underlying imprinted themes.

I also add that I respect Rob for the tolerance he's shown to many characters I am aware of before he kicked them off. I likely would have done it sooner in a few cases I can think of. I also realize that this is a private platform and does not enjoy the privileges of free speech the First Amendment supposedly gives to public forums (but often don't!). Google, Facebook, et. al. have now clearly become public platforms but are run as private ones, with the dark shades of fascism coming down quickly. I know that's a tangent, but I think extremely relevant and one we are all seeing.

I note that I find the vast majority of readers and writers here to be of an above average intelligence and education, which Rob should certainly be proud of, imvso.

One reason I come here is to get serious feedback on things I see and ponder. I like to think I have a highly calibrated bs detector (largely from the above background). I read widely and I view myself as a bona fide humanist. My college background is in biology, but at this time it's hard to believe that even allegedly educated people can't get it through their heads that we are one species on one planet, that pale blue dot on which we share a common fate.

So when we are trying, presumably, to build an open and transparent meeting place for sharing of ideas, sans ad hominem attacks and based to the extent possible on evidence, that is what I try to adhere to.

On the extraordinary turmoil we have created in the Middle East, aka Mideast, mainly for oil--when we should have been working on energy independence via renewables for the past several decades, and consequently are so largely influenced by Israel (while crying about Russia!), I am most interested in the deepest roots I can find on this. And YES, they go mighty deep.

Now, as in so many of our imperial adventures, we are killing absolutely innocent men, women, and children, and causing so much misery there and around the world, it is time to raise our voices loudly and clearly. On a personal level, at my age, I don't give half a dog turd if people want to make accusations against me--but I would like them backed up with something. I care not if that is our alleged president, Jesus, Jeff Bezos, or Methusela. We have politicians on both sides of the duopoly pushing hard for actual nuclear war, that one that will end life on Earth or at a minimum send us back to the stone ages. We ARE a hair's breath away, via error, terror, or madness, or maybe all three.

That said, I'd still appreciate feedback on the link I mentioned above in a comment. If it is truly classifiable as "anit-Semitic," I'd like to know that and WHY.

Lastly, for the moment, on the topic of "anti-Semitism," I'd call Netanyahu one of the greatest of anti-Semite, if we look at who Semites are historically. And also, critically, how that word gets used, as shown via Amy Goodman in her younger days; please do click here to learn a whole lot in a very short video.

So, the answer to my question is "yes", I take it. :)

To be clear, it was respect for Rob that drew me to this site way back. Which is why I'm concerned with the reaction you've reported here. Seems everyone's having a kind of "mental crisis" these days. I'll put it down to that, I guess.

Daniel, I am not well versed on this subject. But I understand you only want dialogue, nothing more. I think that is very reasonable. I have read a number of things regarding all of this and I want to say that I believe there are good reasons to have an open discussion. Why not? I would be very interested in reading such a discussion. I would like to learn a few things.

Josh Middledorf is right! Advanced humans seem to have ESP (I think that's what he said recently in a Daily Inspiration piece). I don't understand quite how that works in my case... but thanks anyway!

AIPAC'S nonprofit arm is taking a bipartisan group of newly elected Congressional representatives, CNN / ABC commentator Tara Setmayer, & California "progressive leaders" on propaganda trips to Israel

By Alison Weir

The Israel lobby has been busy taking a wide variety of government officials and opinion makers on fully expense paid trips to Israel this month. The trips cost in the range of $10,000 per person.

Six newly elected House members are on a 5-day visit to Israel, a delegation of northern California "progressive leaders" are on a week-long trip, media commentator Tara Setmayer has just returned from such a trip, and a delegation of southern California progressive leaders returned from their trip earlier this month.

The House participants include liberals and conservatives, Jewish representatives and Christian fundamentalists, Trump supporters and Trump opponents: Tim Burchett (R-TN), Dan Crenshaw (R-TX), Susie Lee (D-NV), Elaine Goodman Luria (D-VA), Denver Riggleman (R-VA) and David Trone (D-MD).

The California participants are County Supervisors John Gioia and Joe Simian, California Democratic Party Executive Committee Member Andrea Beth Damsky, and unknown others. The delegations are named "Northern Pacific Progressive Leaders" and "Southern Pacific Progressive Leaders," but no one will divulge the rosters.

The AIPAC loophole

The trips are organized and funded by the American Israel Education Foundation (AIEF), the nonprofit arm of the powerful Israel lobbying group AIPAC (American Israel Public Affairs Committee). AIEF was founded in 1989 "to advance the purposes of the American Israel Public Affairs Committee."

AIPAC is widely believed to be the most powerful organization in the US lobbying Congress on behalf of a foreign country. An outgrowth of the 1939 organization "American Zionist Emergency Council," AIPAC's annual convention is attended by ambitious politicians from across the political spectrum (see this example; for more on AZEC, read my book on the history of the Israel lobby).

The goal of AIPAC and of its trips is to promote American support for Israel despite Israel's violations of human rights, international law, U.S. law, and discrimination against Christians and others.

In particular, AIPAC is working to keep the over $10 million per day of American tax money going to Israel. While most Americans feel Israel already gets too much money, Congress is about to pass legislation that will increase the gift even further. This will be the largest military aid package in US history; it works out to about $23,000 for each Jewish Israeli family of four, or $7,230 per minute.

While an individual has recently been charged with acting as a foreign agent over her activities with Russia and the NRA, the Israel lobby has worked to influence U.S. policies on behalf of a foreign country for many years, with very few legal consequences. Even when top AIPAC officials were found to have handed over classified documents, the case was dropped (a Pentagon analyst was jailed for 12 years).

The trips to Israel used to be organized by AIPAC itself until Congress enacted legislation in 2007 intended to stop lobbying organizations from taking government officials on fully paid tours. However, the legislation contains a loophole (some call it the "AIPAC loophole") that allows nonprofit groups to organize such trips, and AIEF officially took over the tours.

An $85 million operation, AIEF takes a wide array of American officials and opinion makers on the all the expense paid trips. It pays for their international flights, hotel accommodations, tourist excursions, meals, drinks, etc. In the past decade it has reportedly spent $12.9 million on bipartisan Congressional trips to Israel.

While some of the more savvy participants may be skeptical of an advocacy organization claiming to give them an unbiased, "educational" look at the region, they seem willing to go along. The Israel lobby is widely known to make or break careers.

David, thank you for the thought/s and one we should never forget is "To know who controls you, you only need to ask who you cannot criticize". In my first post I unfortunately left out the reference in my reply to Jim Arnold. I don't like to scrub my thoughts but as most know the trip wires are out there and there is no mistaken their intent and by who. So I will mostly rely on reference material read-ably available except of course in MSM where those who have eyes to see and do not seek ".. cheap lies, putting the blame upon the nation that is attacked, or those conscience-soothing tactics, after diligent study of them by refusing to examine any refutations of them will by and by convince myself that the war is just, and then thank God for the better sleep I enjoy after a process of grotesque self-deception." Paraphrased -- Mark Twain

The ultimate irony is that any aid to Israel is illegal in light of the fact that it has violated the Symington and Glenn amendments to the 1961 Foreign Assistance Act due to its undeclared nuclear weapons arsenal and its refusal to sign the Nuclear Non Proliferation Treaty. Both Congress and the White House have chosen to ignore that complication, one more demonstration of Jewish power in the United States. In truth, Ariel Sharon, if he was quoted correctly, had it right. Jewish Americans do control or at least exercise considerable influence over key sectors in the U.S. They are overwhelmingly disproportionately present on Wall Street, in the entertainment and news industries, in academia, in high value professions and in government at all levels. Their collective power both enriches and protects Israel at the expense of the U.S. taxpayer and genuine national interests. It also enables Israeli agents in the U.S., like the American Israel Public Affairs Committee (AIPAC), to avoid scrutiny and regulation under the Foreign Agents Registration Act of 1938.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu famously was unaware that he was being filmed when he commented that "America is a thing you can move very easily, moved in the right direction." His predecessor Ariel Sharon was even more to the point when he reportedly said "Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that "don't worry about American pressure; I tell you, we, the Jewish people, control America and the American people know it!"

If this were only chest thumping rhetoric one might just shrug and go about one's business, but actions speak louder than words, even in the world of corrupt politicians, where nothing is ever as it seems to be. In the past year alone, the U.S. government has moved its Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, has stopped criticizing the Netanyahu government's expansion of illegal settlements, and is reportedly currently contemplating recognizing as legal Israel's illegal occupation of the Syrian Golan Heights. All the moves were and are contrary to actual American interests.

Furthermore, Israel, a country having a European level standard of living to include free education and medical care, has received more than $250 billion in "aid" from Washington. It currently is receiving $3.8 billion yearly from the U.S. Treasury as a base figure guaranteed for ten years, with supplements for special projects and programs. Adding in trade arrangements favorable to Israel and the money it gets from American Jewish donors' tax-exempt contributions, the real total per annum approaches and may even exceed $10 billion. Much of the donor money, including that from the Kushner Foundation, has gone to fund the illegal settlements on the West Bank in violation of U.S. law. And then there is the $2.7 billion given yearly to Egypt and Jordan, essentially bribes to maintain friendly relations with Israel.

George, thank you very much.

I have seen references in the past to Israel having a lot of power and control and influence in the US. But I have never understood how they exert their power, control, and influence or even why they would or why "we" let it happen. But you have given me quite an education in just two comments. I appreciate it very much. I now understand the kinds of things they do. It seems they are very good at what they do and by now have had a lot of practice.

(I have nothing I can add to all you said.)

Thank you again.

You posted a comment on your very good article about AI and Happiness. You said you have been traveling a lot including to Europe and you also said you had to bury your mother which was sad for me to hear. Were you able to get your "weary bones home" and get some rest?

I have returned home for the moment, thank you. I am working on catching up on issues domestically with family and the passing. I really do want to follow up on AI and as was pointed out by some there is more than one issue in the discussion but see no reason to separate out other than deeper discussion and thought in each without losing the impact of each upon the other. I have read and re-read the comments and actual discussion/debate and must say it has drawn an extraordinary group together and that an education for me always emerges from such efforts by all.

Best regards
George

David, there is so much available on this issue and it is not just APIAC in the US, this is worldwide and the modus operandi has been exposed many times and places continuing unabated. Watch the film the Israel lobby didn't want you to see.

It is well established, Israel has been running both covert and overt efforts against Jeremy Corbyn since he became leader of the Labour Party. Anti-Palestinian groups working in coordination with Israel are running covert social media campaigns. A recent example was revealed in the suppressed undercover al-Jazeera investigation,The Lobby in America. As that film showed, The Israel Project is running a campaign to infiltrate pro-Israel narrativesinto popular, and otherwise innocuous, Facebook pages. The lobby group's managing director told Al Jazeera's undercover reporter: "There are also things that we do that are completely off the radar".

Last month, another covert operation was revealed after its documents leaked this one run by the British state. The so-called Integrity Initiative (II) was launched in 2015and is directed by British military intelligenceofficials. Its documents suggest it is involved in what it calls "infowar techniques." The British government conceded after the leakthat II is being funded by both its foreignand defenseministries, over $3m to date. Among the shadowy group's targetshas been Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn.
