I was arrested blocking access to a migrant detention facility. More and more U.S. Jews recognize the urgent moral necessity of doing more than just marching against these grave human rights abuses: That's what 'Never Again' really means. Like most American Jews I know, I was raised with a thorough education about the Holocaust. I can't remember a time when I didn't know about it.

I was raised with a "thorough education" about Catholicism. But no matter, every human being should be horrified and incensed about this extreme tragedy. Search for famous Jews throughout history and ponder how many of them are sitting in these cages right now. Not to mention those of all other faiths.

On a trip to Poland some time back I took a tour to Auschwitz/Birkenau Concentrations Camps with dear relatives who live nearby in Oświęcim - walked the streets and sidewalks of Auschwitz, toured the exhibits and went inside the buildings and went between the barbed wire fencing and stepped inside the crematory chambers and the adjacent "poison gas" shower rooms. Saw the interrogation/torture rooms and offices of the Gestapo with chains hooked up to the ceiling rafters for torturing and hanging victims and the Gestapo's Daily Log Book on the desk with all the names carefully entered daily of all those being tortured and murdered. Actually went up the tight staircase to the Birkenau Guard Tower and gazed out at all the railroad tracks and platforms where millions of humanity had arrived at the camps in cramped railcars from all over Nazis occupied Europe and the children and infants immediately separated and torn violently from their parents and relatives by Nazis soldiers. Dogs viciously barking at the incoming victims ready to attack anyone as ordered to by the guards.

I can tell you with confidence our immigrant detention centers are not concentration camps "by any stretch" and our guards and the walls of the detention centers are trying to keep the wayward immigrant children, most of whom don't speak any English, "safe and sound" (Tulsi is permitted "to enter") while it's being decided by congress and the White House "how to proceed" - of course, there are rules to be followed by all and discipline is surely required and demanded to "maintain semblance of order" as is the standard rule in all our official government facilities.

But the fact is that this opinion from Haaretz is coming from the most progressive media outlet in Israel, and they should recognize the similarities enough to make such a warning to all of the Jews in America. A video from Haaretz:

Our border guards did not rip the immigrant children from the arms of their parents and relatives as the Nazis soldiers did in their concentration camps - these victim immigrant children were dumped on our borders by their parents or relatives and some came across our borders by themselves. If effect, the United States had been invaded by caravans of migrants from Latin America - all seeking the "milk and honey" of a blessed land of freedom.

Stephen, I don't disagree on the "possibly most progressive site," but I would contend that this guy's is the most honest site from Israel--I refer to the one mentioned in the article click here, along with the author mentioned by PCR--but I fully admit that some folks seem to have closed minds on the matter, to state it politely.

As anyone is certainly entitled to. You may even recall the many closed minds in re my earlier link on a similar topic.
