The Guatemalan government was awaiting a death certificate before the body of 7-year-old Jakelin Caal Maquin begins her return home, said Tekandi Paniagua, Guatemala's consul general for Del Rio, Texas.
A Guatemalan Foreign Ministry spokeswoman on Tuesday said that the documentation needed had been completed and that Jakelin's body was expected to return to Guatemala on Thursday, the Associated Press reported.
