An IDF soldier shot dead a Palestinian police officer standing 100 meters away, at the entrance to his station, talking to other members of the force: Tarek Badwan father of two boys. Security-camera footage taken from inside the Jenin police station leaves no doubt: 3 Palestinian officers stand in the entrance, carrying on a conversation. Suddenly, with no warning, one of them slumps to the floor, killed by a highly trained sniper, with a single shot fired from great distance.
Jordanian-born Badwan, 25, lived in the West Bank town of Azzun, with a Jordanian wife came from a family of police officers; grandfather served in Jordanian police; father was with the Ramallah force; one brother, a police officer in Tul Karm. Tarek joined Jenin’s force 2 years ago – and was killed in the line of duty (or maybe non-duty since at the time he was on a break from his patrolling?)
