| "Let's Draft Our Kids" -- so says Thomas E Ricks in this controversial Op-Ed from the NY Times. He quotes McChrystal advocating the draft, not to bolser our armed forces, but to give every American some "Skin in the game" when making the decision to send our troops into armed combat.
I'd go a step further; let's also add the cost of military combat actions to every citizen's tax bill as a surcharge. The voters would feel the pinch in their paychecks. Oh yeah, and make sure that the 1% pay enough to make it hurt too! |
