That’s what, in statistics, we might call a poorly defined variable, a spurious correlation. "Can you think of a single example ever, in all of human history, the whole millennial panorama of it, of a fascist movement arising during good economic times, booms, seasons of plenty?" Placing our faith in precisely the broken institutions that let fascism rise to then stop it is the truest kind of folly."
