Espy Loses: Mississippi Senate race sees new controversy in 'segregation academy' revelation

 Trump and the Republican incumbent prevailed; however, the Mississippi U.S. Senate race saw a new controversy as it has been reported that Republican candidate Cindy Hyde-Smith attended a ‘segregation academy’ as a young woman. After Mississippi Gov. John Bell Williams, enforced the order in the winter of 1970, many white families in the state helped establish  private academies, which remained predominantly white. These segregationist academies created barriers for entry that black students could not overcome.
