The biggest folly of all is to enter politics when one is inexperienced and incompetent. But the list of Trump's ineptitudes is very long and we tend to forget previous ones as the next one hits the headlines..
Yes, 'what took so long'? - for Trump's first two years in office (2017-2018) he had Paul Ryan (R-WI) Speaker of the House and Mitch McConnell (R-KY) Majority Leader in the Senate. For those two, Trump could 'do no wrong'. For Trump's last two years in office (2019-2020) Trump had McCarthy (R-CA) Minority Leader in the House and McConnell (R-KY) Majority Leader in the Senate - again, for those two Trump could 'do no wrong'. In 2020, Pelosi (D-CA) Speaker of the House had failed to hold more impeachment inquiries and hearings on Trump, as she apparently 'deliberately', 'ran out the clock' to the November 3 election. Trump thereby had become effectively 'invincible on his watch', as both the Republicans and the Democrats in congress 'let it happen that way'.
