DNC's has 23 declared candidates and struggles to run a thoughtful, fair, and transparent process giving each contender the consideration they deserve. Perez announced a decision that is guaranteed to rankle some candidates already likely to be a confusing mess. He will determine randomly which will appear 1st and 2nd. DNC faced extensive accusations of bias during the 2016 primary. Perez elaborated on his concerns; the plan became less clear. “We wanted to make sure we didn’t have our thumb on the scale. I don’t want people thinking that night one is the varsity event and night two is the JV. We’re going to make sure that we mix it up.”
