American-British-Israeli biophysicist and Nobel Laurate Michael Levitt crunched the numbers, and accurately forecast the slowing down of the spread of the virus in China in February. “The rate of infection of the virus in the Hubei province increased by 30% each day — that is a scary statistic. I am not an influenza expert but I can analyze numbers and that is exponential growth.” Had the growth continued at that rate, the whole world would have become infected within 90 days. But as Levitt continued to process the numbers, the pattern changed...

I don't think he was saying that every place in the world that has been infected is at the same place in the curve, just that the curve is likely to follow the same arc in each location. I believe his point was that once the stats start dropping, they drop quickly. (he was referencing the curve in China which he analyzed, and it seems likely that the same pattern will emerge in other countries.)

sounds right to me...Levitt said it was accelerating at an unbelievable rate right before it started to plummet in China, so that same pattern would be expected.

I guess the darkest hour is just before dawn.
