Trump asks what to do about illegal immigrants; audience member shouts "Shoot them!"

The 1st flight left McAllen Friday, moving detainees to Del Rio; Two flights scheduled Tuesday. Adults arriving with children are released from custody quickly with an appointment to see an immigration judge, because courts have limited the time minors can be held in immigration jails. Homeland officials blame this model for the border surge, called by Trump: “catch and release." Authorities detained 109,144 migrants along the border in April, the highest total since 2007; 60+% of those were families or children.

Acting Homeland Secretary Kevin McAleenan and acting Defense Secretary Patrick Shanahan travel to the Rio Grande Valley to visit the McAllen border station to call for a “whole of government” approach to addressing the crisis, according to a DHS statement.
