The space agency said: “Between frequent shooting stars we wish on in the night sky and the massive extinction-level asteroids that we hope we never see, there is a middle ground of rocks sized to make it through the atmosphere and do serious damage to a limited area.”

Happy Asteroid Day everybody. I dedicate this post to Janet Supriano, who recently cited me as "That crazy Asteroid Lady". Since whenever it was that George Bush the First invaded Baghdad I've been pondering the meaning of WAR, as in "War, what is it good for?"--(Seinfeld etal) it has struck me that not only do we not have a clue about much of anything, but that we're on a quest to stop this from happening and that war toys are our only hope, and that getting lazy simians to do anything besides sit around eating free fruit and roaring expletives at one another wasn't going to be easy. So Ma decided to winterize the planet and see if She could get us off our asses to do something about it, before Her lovely Garden was excised from the Universe that apparently spawned it but couldn't give a rat's ass whether it survived or not. In fact, it's that very fickle nature of the celestial setup that assures that one day the inevitable collision with some mindless rock will blast us all to smithereens. We seem to be the only critter that gives a damn, and I attribute that fact to the gradual evolution of our species, and the notch that exists deep in our digital structure for every time one hit, we were reduced to jelly and had to start all over again. We know that an "angry God" will be back. Ya gotta give those prophets credit where it's due. This evidence of a manifestation of that inborn instinct gives me hope; for as many decades as I've been screaming about it, I seem to invite nothing but ridicule, hence I am happy to hand the mission over to some respectable scientists who are deeply involved in the existential problem of SAVING THE PLANET FROM THE ONLY ENEMY WE EVER REALLY HAD. The rest, like warring tribes, is jive; a game to keep us on our toes. So look up with wonder, and worry! That's why we're here. And war toys, far from what you hear, are our gift to Earth. Don'tcha just love the irony?

Thank you from that crazy This-Just-Can't-Be-Real Lady. Never got a post dedication before.

Could be the Asteroid threat is the only reality in our reality. Nothing else going on seems to make much sense to me anymore.

I find irony in having 'known' so much more when I was so much younger. :)

So what's the secret to getting PARAGRAPHS to take on this site? I'm baffled. Sometimes I get them, sometimes not. I carefully planted spaces and they just don't take. It makes posts very difficult to read and I'm getting sick of it, as grateful as I am to be accepted here as a writer. Please somebody explain!!!
