Charles doing what Charles does best – taking it straight to the heart of the matter….

“The Amazon rainforest is on fire, but there is a psychological trap to be cautious of.

“Like a lot of people I’ve been really deeply affected by what’s happening in the Amazon rainforest here in August 2019, as the red line of logging and fires, many of them set deliberately to clear land for soybean plantations and cattle plantations and sugar cane.

In my run for U.S. Senate against Utah's Orrin Hatch, I posted many progressive ideas and principles that I internalized over the years. I'm leaving that site up indefinitely, since it describes what I believe most members of our species truly (more...)

Everything I've read by Charles Eisenstein has been well worth it.

One brilliant, deep-thinking guy speaking from the heart and soul. I've disagreed on a few minor points, but in re this short video, I can only note that holding onto hate is as Shakespeare noted--I can't find or recall the exact words, but it's something like "Do not hold a furnace so hot that it doeth burneth thine own soul."

Or Dale Carnegie, I think, who said, "There is nothing more that our enemies would like than to know that our thinking about them is eating ourselves up." [Surely paraphrased.]

Right or wrong, effective or not, I find Charles' advice extremely worth heeding. For ourselves, if nothing else.

As of August 16, 2019, an analysis of NASA satellite data indicated that total fire activity across the Amazon basin this year has been close to the average in comparison to the past 15 years. (The Amazon spreads across Brazil, Peru, Colombia, and parts of other countries.) Though activity appears to be above average in the states of Amazonas and Rond├┤nia, it has so far appeared below average in Mato Grosso and Para', according to estimates from the Global Fire Emissions Database, a research project that compiles and analyzes NASA data.

Or the third: Over 75,000 fires have erupted in Brazil since the start of the year, an over 80% increase on last year and the highest number since record began in 2013.
