Warren directly aimed at Sheldon Adelson, one of history’s biggest GOP donor who gave $100 million to Donald Trump and Republicans this year alone. Adelson and his counterparts own the GOP at every level from city councils to the White House because it benefits them financially, like the 2017 GOP cut forcing cuts to services. As GOP activist Grover Norquist said of the federal government, “I just want to shrink it down to the size where we can drown it in the bathtub.'
Warren placed an ad in the Adelson-owned Review-Journal, Las Vegas’ largest paper, making the case for wealth tax, noting Adelson would have to pay $2.3 billion in taxes the 1st year. Warren’s noting how money would be reinvested, canceling student loan debt, investing in childcare to help working parents, and more. Nevada reporter Jon Ralston, who was a panelist in Nevada’s debate, noted Warren’s “chutzpah.”
