Jamie Schmidt, of House Springs, was killed in a shooting at Catholic Supply store in St. Louis. Officers were brought to the scene by a 911 caller who reported the crime at 3:19 p.m. Monday. Thomas Bruce is accused of forcing two other victims to perform oral sex acts on him at gunpoint, and tried to do the same with Schmidt, shooting her in the head when she refused. Schmidt, 53, lived in House Springs, attended church in High Ridge and worked as a secretarial assistant in the office of the associate provost. She sang in the choir at her church, St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, and may have been at the store to buy supplies for a project to crochet rosaries for other parishioners, according to a friend, Laura Sheldon.
