Contrary to some comments I have been reading on OEN, Barack Obama was elected by the people and not some agreement with the Washington establishment. I know this will not play well with those that need conspiracy in their lives, and I know no move by Obama will be acknowledged as “good” by any of these savvy political pundits.
There are people that need conspiracy, just like a junkie needs dope. Be it 911, JFK, Roswell, Big Foot, or “Elvis Lives”, they just got to have it. And, “they or if you prefer “you” (try on the shoe and see if it fits) no matter what logic is placed before you, you will continue to preach “conspiracy” and there is always some evidence or person that you can throw out as your defense. The Flat Earth Society is still out there------I think.
I like Dennis Kucinich. I would vote for him but he was not on my ballot. I don’t know much about McKinney but she seems my kind of person but I did not find her on my ballot either. Maybe Nader cost Gore the 2000 election but one thing I can promise is, Nader will never even get close and if you want to vote for him------fine it is a promise given you by the local, state, and federal government but don’t try and tell me how smart you are or how wrong the rest of us are for supporting Obama.
Fact: Our candidate won and yours lost.
Monday night on The News Hour Madeleine Albright, Dr. Philip Zelikow, and Jack Reed gave Obama’s choice of his security team high marks. Of course you will say it is just Albright and Reed so what do you expect; but then you have to discredit Dr. Zelikow and he was part of the Bush administration. But, using your conspiracy mentality it simply means that Zelikow is part of it. But let us look at Madeleine Albright’s credentials and perhaps “you” would like to compare your own.
Madeleine Albright graduated from the Kent Denver School in 1955. Awarded a BA from Wellesley College with honors in Political Science, she studied at the School of Advanced International Studies at Johns Hopkins University, received a Certificate from the Russian Institute at Columbia University, and her Master's and Doctorate from Columbia University's Department of Public Law and Government. She was also awarded Honorary Doctors of Laws from the University of Washington in 2002, University of Winnipeg in 2005, the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in 2007 and Knox College in 2008 . Albright is multilingual, being fluent in English, French, and Czech in addition to Russian, with good speaking and reading abilities in Polish and Serbo-Croatian.
As to Dr. Philip Zelikow, it would seem he has the necessary “where with all” to make an educated opinion. He earned a law degree from the
In 1989, in the George H. W. Bush administration, Zelikow was detailed to join the National Security Council, where he was involved as a senior White House staffer in the diplomacy surrounding the reunification of Germany and the diplomatic settlements accompanying the end of the Cold War in Europe. During the first Gulf War he aided President George Bush, national security adviser Brent Scowcroft, and Secretary of State James Baker in diplomatic affairs related to the coalition. He went on to co-author, with Condoleezza Rice, the book Germany Unified and Europe Transformed: A Study in Statecraft (ISBN 0-674-35324-2, Harvard University Press, 1995), a highly-regarded academic treatment of the politics of reunification.
Not only does Dr. Zelikow have more than enough “credential wise” to make his statements, he has been part of the Republican Administration, making his opinion even more interesting and credible. Do I expect to agree with Obama on every issue? No. Do I think mistakes will be made? Yes. Will Obama be able to meet all his campaign promises? No. The future in this country is filled with more possible disasters than, in my opinion, the world has ever seen and the next four years will be the hardest most of us have ever seen in our lives. If there has ever been a time for a great leader-----it is now and only history will tell the story of Obama and we better all hope that history will call him “great”.
No President-Elect has moved as fast in gathering around him some of the best and brightest, and if anything, they are not “yes people” and all have strong personalities and opinions-------something Obama wanted. This is the first time after an election has been won that I continue to get emails from some of the future cabinet members, asking for input. So “you” and “they” continue your conspiracy quest-----we know you need it but let the rest of us look to the future with a new belief that this remarkable man will lead us to a better America.
P.S. my two favorites, Maddow and Olberman are in agreement as well.
