Today, you'll see a new front page. The Best of the web and OpEdNews Op-Eds columns have been merged. Today's look will not last long. We're doing gradual changes so people won't come the site and suddenly not recognize it.
We're Looking for More Articles and Quicklinks on Arts, Science, Life, Business
We're now putting the arts/sci/life column on the front page. That's because we want to get more content that covers areas outside of politics. This was a goal of OpEdNews when I founded it-- to publish all the different kinds of articles a daily newspaper or weekly news magazine covers on its inside pages.
So, if you write about anything, we'd like to see it. Poetry, short fiction, cooking, design, product reviews, health, self-help, tips on surviving tough times, music, arts, science, business, technology-- I hope you'll submit your articles and quicklinks to articles on other sites.
And we could definitely use plenty of volunteer editors to help us with this new effort. Please drop me a note, including your phone number, your interests and an expanded bio. We just want to take OpEdNEws to a level that surpasses the NY Times and Wall Street Journal in terms of breadth and quality. We already surpass them when it comes to covering the tough issues they fail to cover. Help us on the journey. Volunteer.
Make sure you check out Keith Harmon Snow's FORMER TEACHER ARRESTED FOR BURNING U.S. FLAGS. It's a great read.
Can You Step Up to The Plate for OpEdNews... TODAY?
OpEdNEws is not just a news and community blog site. It is a tool for progressive activism, designed to empower individuals and groups to take action and make a difference.
We want you to take full advantage of what we offer. Check out out our FAQ to learn more about getting the most out of our very powerful website, with its unique functions, not found on any other site.
But we also need YOUR help. Financial contributions if you can afford them-- give us what you think we're worth. How much did you give to Edwards, Kucinich, Gravel, etc.? Do you think we'll be making as much of an impact in the coming months and years? We'd like to see some $2300 contributions too. And if you don't have money to give, volunteer as a queue or subject editor, or just submit quicklinks (here's how: Quick Links Tutorial,) tell others about OpEdNews (use our invite a friend tool to invite your groups, friends and family) or tell us how you can, with your unique skills, help us. Drop me a line to volunteer.
Last year, we had 1000 individual contributions, averaging under $50 each. This year, our readership is up and we'd like to see at least 2,000, even 3000. The big conservative think tanks see tens of thousands, in addition to the big ticket donor contributions of six and seven figures. Will you break the ice and make your first contribution? Today? $5 or $5000, whatever you can afford.
