Change happens from the bottom up. That means we all play a role. When the mainstream media act as echo chambers for the capitalist, uniparty corporatocracy, only alternative media can be depended upon to catalyze real change. There's no big money behind progressive media. The readers keep us going. Please be a part of the bottom up change that is going to happen.

  Permission   Details   DMCA

The attacks on the media from Trump, Hillbots and Centrist Dems are huge. OEN has been hit by the neoMcCarthyism that the Democrats, Google and Facebook have embraced

Big media have whole marketing teams and hundreds of millions of dollars to buttress their economic well being. WaPo has Jeff Bezos. NYTimes has Carlos Slim. OpEdNews has YOU. Please find two minutes to help.

OpEdNews is a community of readers, commenters, writers, volunteer editors, our webmaster and me.

YOU are an essential part of the OpEdNews community. If you care about and value being a part of the community, please either make a donation or purchase a premium membership

When you compare what OpEdNews is seeking in funding to close out the year to other progressive sites, it's incredible-- incredibly low.

We're almost there. We have $5000 $2480 $690 to go. Other sites are seeking $500,000, $100,000, $50,000.

So take your pick-- they're seeking one hundred times more, twenty times or ten times more than OpEdNews is.

The main factor that will determine whether we meet our target is you.

If you have never given, or if it's been a while, please take that step. Can you either kick in a donation or purchase a premium membership? Make it possible for us to celebrate reaching our goal.

This is a tough time for us and the $10, $25, $50, $100, $200, $500 or $1000, or even $3 you donate will really save the day. Every four or five years we get a $10,000 donation. This would be a great year for it.

Click here to purchase a premium membership (starting at $10) We need $600 more in membership sales by the end of the year. If you're a writer, you may be able to write off the fee.

It's not a lot, $5000, relatively, but it's really important that we raise it. If you value the work and mission of OpEdNews, if you look forward to reading our articles, please help.

thanks,

rob kall

PS Thanks to those who have made donations or purchased premium memberships. We're making progress but only have three days to cover a lot of ground.

Rob Kall is an award winning journalist, inventor, software architect, connector and visionary. His work and his writing have been featured in the New York Times, the Wall Street Journal, CNN, ABC, the HuffingtonPost, Success, Discover and other media. He's given talks and workshops to Fortune 500 execs and national medical and psychological organizations, and pioneered first-of-their-kind conferences in Positive Psychology, Brain Science and Story. He hosts some of the world's smartest, most interesting and powerful people on his Bottom Up Radio Show, and founded and publishes one of the top Google- ranked progressive news and opinion sites, OpEdNews.com

more detailed bio:

Rob Kall has spent his adult life as an awakener and empowerer-- first in the field of biofeedback, inventing products, developing software and a music recording label, MuPsych, within the company he founded in 1978-- Futurehealth, and founding, organizing and running 3 conferences: Winter Brain, on Neurofeedback and consciousness, Optimal Functioning and Positive Psychology (a pioneer in the field of Positive Psychology, first presenting workshops on it in 1985) and Storycon Summit Meeting on the Art Science and Application of Story-- each the first of their kind.  Then, when he found the process of raising people's consciousness and empowering them to take more control of their lives  one person at a time was too slow, he founded Opednews.com-- which has been the top search result on Google for the terms liberal news and progressive opinion for several years. Rob began his Bottom-up Radio show, broadcast on WNJC 1360 AM to Metro Philly, also available on iTunes, covering the transition of our culture, business and world from predominantly Top-down (hierarchical, centralized, authoritarian, patriarchal, big)  to bottom-up (egalitarian, local, interdependent, grassroots, archetypal feminine and small.) Recent long-term projects include a book, Bottom-up-- The Connection Revolution, debillionairizing the planet and the Psychopathy Defense and Optimization Project.

I am glad to help and will make a contribution shortly.

When you compare your needs to sites like Daily Kos, Politico, The Hill, etc., especially when it comes to their relatively rude treatment of submissions, but yet their wearisome endless fundraising goes on....(I am not faulting their articles, however).

I remember once in Bernie's campaign, or maybe twice, he asked (instead of the usual $2.70 contribution) for the reader to write a letter to the Secretary of the Treasury, about some drug company that was moving off shore to Ireland to save billions on taxes. It was quite successful.

I think politicians make a big mistake in treating supporters as endless cash cows, instead of real citizens who could be enlisted to write about something more important.

My SS income (the part you eat and buy meds on) is going down for the third straight year; Next year it will be less than $1,000.

My thoughts and prayers are with and for the Free Enterprise Market, hoping things will improve to the point where we will receive an increase.

*THEY well know, that some of us may well squander the excess by contributing to Op Ed News.

The Dallas Cowboys helmets, on the bottom of the back side (just below the billboard area) read 'COWBOYS'.

One of the players jerryrigged his to read 'DOWBOYS'.

This gem flashed on the screen during a game but, of course, no for longer than a second.

I wonder if the cameraman was fined.

I cannot recall the particulars, but you can find them online. A visit to a doc without insurance is around $40 - equivalent to my current copay - so either way much more economical

Medicare's deduction keeps going up (the money you pay annually before Medicare kicks in).
I've also noticed a reduction in what Medicare covers in blood tests which accompany a physical. Medicare now refuses to pay for a blood cholesterol test.

Well...now I feel lucky. Mine has stayed exactly the same 2015-2018. Yep, any 'raise' offset by precisely the same medicare increase. How DO they do that??

Hey, no complaints ... the costs of food, gas, Rxs, dental, med co-pays, Internet, telephone and heat/water have all gone down so drastically.
;P

OEN is a cooperative. Writers and editors volunteer our time, energy and talents to get the word out. To my mind we make a critical statement, "you are not alone. we are with you". I urge all readers to contribute whatever you are able so that we can all continue to glean a better understanding of domestic and world events - and how to survive them.

The video shamelessly promotes these billionaires, but when you look beneath the surface, what you see does not always match what's on the surface.

Warren Buffet was putting on a charity golf tournament at Offuts AFB outside Omaha on 9/11. This gave some top executives who had offices in the World Trade Center an excuse not to be there. Later in the Day, who showed up there but George W. Bush. The powerful shadow government character, Raymond Tusk, in House of Cards seemed to be patterned after Buffet. Click here.

Michael Bloomberg, who became mayor of NYC shortly after 9/11, is obviously not a stupid man. Bloomberg has enough intelligence to recognize that all three office towers on 9/11 were controlled demolitions.
That fact changes all the narrative about 9/11, yet Bloomberg supports the lies. Why?

Mark Zuckerberg paid $65 million to former Harvard classmates who filed a lawsuit which claimed Zuckerberg stole the idea for Facebook from them.

I used to throw around more cash when my finances at least appeared to be more healthy. I did have a bit of a downturn about a year ago, but pulled out of it, primarily because of the largess of an individual who sold me a 1995 automobile for 20 bucks, enabling me to get to work. So I finally took the plunge and plunked down ten bucks. OEN is an invaluable site. I know no other like it. We have two almost diametrically opposed streams of thought running through the brotherhood/sisterhood here lately. There's a little name-calling between friends now and then, but the more onerous bots that used to generate ill will have pretty much disappeared. I absolutely adore this website. It has been a light in the darkness, a friendly lifeboat in a choppy sea. It is a positive cultural icon of our age. Thank you, Rob and all the great editors that make OEN possible.

I have been with this site for over ten years.

A few times, I wanted to become a paid member but non-responsive of editors or Rob made to change my mind.

Since there are good members on this site, I decided to become a paid member. I know there is cost to run any entity and I want to pay my share.
