The Oligarchic State of America, and the Zomboid State of the Electorate

Message Rafe Pilgrim
Hedges:  "....most important, it illustrates the depraved mentality of an oligarchic and corporate elite that, as conditions worsen, retreats into self-contained gated communities, guts basic services and abandons the wider population."
.
"It is an America divided between corporate predators and their prey. It is an America that, as things unravel, increasingly sacrifices its own."
.
Hedges spares citing how stable the system is under whichever of the partisan frauds -- Reagan, Bush, Clinton, Bush II, Obama -- we cheer into office.  The wars go on, as does the homelessness, unaffordable higher education, indecent medical care, disrepair of our infrastructure, larceny of the people's treasure, etc, regardless of which bunch of partisan patsies "won" the White House for their "lesser-evil" hero.
.
One supposes it could get worse -- gracious, the horror of the "greater-evil" winning the hearts and minds of the Great American Electorate!  Ah, but the political scholars advise that such could perhaps hazard -- some would say the necessary cause to -- revolution!  But the "R" word, highly honored only in our history, is now cause for imprisonment or worse.
.
In any event, that disruption would be quite unlikely, most probably throttled in its cradle, as one can imagine considering the tools we endorse for its prevention:  phone and internet tapping, public cameras and microphones, warrantless home invasion, body searches, X-rays, pat downs, and -- oh yes! -- "extreme rendition," torture and assassination.
.
This state of affairs -- however unkindly appearing -- is honored by all of history:  The LAST revolution was always necessary and beneficial, and its heroes anointed.  The NEXT revolution is always destructive and criminal, its miscreants to be beheaded.
.
With the forces imposed to prevent insurrection, and the Great American Electorate swallowing the bilge that prompts their enthusiasm for shyster leadership, it appears that we're in for indeterminable wretched governance favoring the miniscule "elite," enriched that it is by whatever means other than moral.  Our politicos will call this "stability."  Our real masters -- e.g. Lloyd Blankfein, Jamie Dimen, and perhaps a dozen others -- call this "necessary," and will ensure it maintains.
.
Oh yes, one supposes we could actually change this wretched prospect to the betterment of our three-hundred-million citizens if we mustered the necessary intelligence, courage and goodwill.  The course of our citizenry's predilection for political and social abuse across the past thirty-odd years, however,  presages that we will not.
.
Our candidate is "better-than their candidate," well at least "lesser-evil."  And, of course, God blesses America, without qualification and any critics be damned!

Leaving behind a treacherous government now addicted to perpetual war, its limitlessly greedy and power-lusting masters, as well as the retarded albeit smirky Republicans and their evermore clonish Democrat colleagues, a braindead electorate (more...)
