Five days to go and we're Waaay behind in fundraising this month.

Look, we are reaching more readers per dollar spent than any of the major progressive media sites. We're publishing great articles, serving progressives, fighters for democracy and freedom all over the world, for no fees. We do it for a tiny, tiny fraction of what most comparable size and traffic sites do it for... But we absolutely must have the help of our readers. Last month we had over 430,000 unique visitors and under 120 contributions-- less than one contribution per 3500 visitors. We know some... many readers can't afford to contribute $200 or $500 or $1000. But some can. And some can afford to contribute $5 or $25. If you can't afford to support opednews.com financially, don't even think about worrying about it. We still love you. But if you can kick in a few bucks, or more, please help out. This is the year that OpEdNews, after four years, must stand alone, without me subsidizing it.

Please, take a moment NOW, to make a contribution. $upport OpEdNews with your donation

Breaking-- the Bush Nazi supreme court has weakened the constitution again and again and again by weighing in against the "Bong hits for Jesus" student. Schools do have the right to censor students.

And they've ruled in favor of an anti-abortion group wanting the right to run ads close to elections. This was on a five to four vote.

America is in for many years of chillingly horrendous supreme court decisions because of Bush appointees. Now... what if another Supreme resigns or dies while the worst president in history is still in office? Don't depend on the invertebrate Dems to prevent him from appointing another reptile like Roberts and the rest of the constitution destroyers.

Meta-OpEdNEws-- Posting Articles and Diaries Discussing OpEdNEws.

Check out an interesting diary on commenting on OpEdNEws. It has a lot of comments. There have been a few postings discussing the way things work on OpEdNEws. I think it's healthy and would like to see more, but they should be posted as diaries. My experience as founder of OpEdNews has been that the more OpEdNews is opened up to its members, readers, users, the bigger and better, the more successful it gets. We have over 20 volunteer editors now. I'd like to see a few hundred, including a volunteer coordinator. Here's some info on volunteering at OpEdNews. Volunteer Opportunities at OpEdNews But this segment of the newsletter was supposed to be a call to post discussions about OpEdNews.com. In my other work, I deal with biofeedback. So, feedback is something I highly value. But posting diaries discussing how things are done at OpEdNEws is more than feedback. It's community participation. I expect some will be a bit uncomfortable, but change and shining light where it's been dark can be that way. So, go for it, just stay civil and follow netiquette.

And thanks to all of you who have already taken the initiative. When Juan Herrera suggested I take the discussion about the article 5 constitutional convention which Joel Hirschorn started (Americans Unready to Revolt, Despite Revolting Conditions, followed by Are Americans Unready to Boil?) I took the opportunity to bring it up during my appearance on the Thom Hartmann show on Air America.

OpEdNews is growing into a vibrant community, with voices from all over the world. You can post to the front page or to the page for your country or county, or for specific subjects.

You don't have to send money or even write to contribute to OpEdNEws.

You can find articles on the web and do quicklinks so you share your internet "finds" with other members of the OpEdNEws community. You know how I'm always asking you to help fund OpEdNews. We know a lot of you just can't afford to cough up money. But another way you can help, that doesn't cost a nickle, is to help find articles to link to. This is a really important part of making OpEdNews.com a success and we can't do it alone. You can pick from your favorite websites, your favorite subjects or issues. It's a great way to make a difference here at OpEdNews. Here's how: Quick Links Tutorial.

One more thing you can do without money is to click on the digg.com icons on each article. When enough people do it, they make a real difference.

Strange Weekend

The interfaith church I belong to is going through some changes. The minister has put in his resignation notice. Yesterday, he led a town meeting in which he started off saying there would be no questions or comments, just him answering questions that had been written beforehand. He went on to explain why he was leaving-- because he'd been hit on sexually by men and women, because of politics and obstruction, resistance to change. I respected his frustration, but also felt that this could be any church. I guess the difference is he was brought in with a vision of making changes. Most religious orgs don't want change. They are fossilized the way they've been and like it that way. I hated to leave before he was finished. It was like a reality soap opera, hearing what he reported. I know he's going through a lot of pain, but the way he told us about the whole thing-- it was riveting.

Then, we went to a wedding-- one of my daughter's best friends. The groom wore sneakers. The word was he'd said he wanted to wear shorts and sneakers. He ended up with a tux and sneakers. That's a good sign. He's starting to learn that relationships are built upon compromises. His bride was ecstatic, so, apparently, she's learned about compromise too. Yes. I did dance. I love to dance, the faster the better. Good thing. The cake for dessert was delicious and I ate too much.

It's going to be a hot one this week. The Supreme Court news is very bad, and an omen that things will be bad even if we manage to replace Bush and Cheney with executives who lean further left. Let's make something happen this week. Call your representative about Cheney and whatever other issues are on your mind. And get some less political people in your district to call too. These criminals are ripening. The maggots are breaking through to the surface and more and more people are seeing how rotten they really are. Make sure you do all you can to let your members of congress know they are not doing enough.

Sincerely,

Rob Kall

more detailed bio:

Rob Kall has spent his adult life as an awakener and empowerer-- first in the field of biofeedback, inventing products, developing software and a music recording label, MuPsych, within the company he founded in 1978-- Futurehealth, and founding, organizing and running 3 conferences: Winter Brain, on Neurofeedback and consciousness, Optimal Functioning and Positive Psychology (a pioneer in the field of Positive Psychology, first presenting workshops on it in 1985) and Storycon Summit Meeting on the Art Science and Application of Story-- each the first of their kind. Rob began his Bottom-up Radio show, broadcast on WNJC 1360 AM to Metro Philly, also available on iTunes, covering the transition of our culture, business and world from predominantly Top-down (hierarchical, centralized, authoritarian, patriarchal, big) to bottom-up (egalitarian, local, interdependent, grassroots, archetypal feminine and small.) Recent long-term projects include a book, Bottom-up-- The Connection Revolution, (more...)
