Wow, it's been a nightmare for the past few weeks. But I think we're finally over it. The site's dedicated private server had its hard drive die. The server company we were using took almost a full day to identify the problem and replace the hard drive. But the problems didn't end there. The site kept on having problems because of improper management of the server.
We finally bit the bullet and transferred to a new server company with new management. The new server should eliminate some of the problems we had before and will, hopefully run faster and smoother.
This ongoing problem has been devastating to our donations and ad revenues. Programming costs for dealing with the problems have added to the weight of our problems. Shifting to the new server is the necessary move and a positive one but it is also going to add to cost. Now is a great time to make a donation or sign up for a lifetime membership.

UPDATE:
We are still working on configuring the site and retrieving data. We're going to wait another day before sending out the daily newsletter, because there is some configuration involved to make it work.
Also, it takes up to 48 hours for the internet to connect people to the new server instead of the old server. Some of you may have posted comments, quicklinks or articles that went on the old server. They may be lost in the process of the transfer.

Rob began his Bottom-up Radio show, broadcast on WNJC 1360 AM to Metro Philly, also available on iTunes, covering the transition of our culture, business and world from predominantly Top-down (hierarchical, centralized, authoritarian, patriarchal, big) to bottom-up (egalitarian, local, interdependent, grassroots, archetypal feminine and small.)
