Mitt Romney must be using a palmful of Vitriol as his hair cream this week, because he has been pomaded deep in attack mode. The headline: The Obama campaign is one of "division and attack and hatred." Hatred ? Did he say hatred ? Well, yes. And he didn't say it well. He said it like a mean, scared, white rich guy. And then he backed up the truck and dropped the rest of the load: the Obama campaign is one of "enmity and jealousy and anger." The only problem: it's Mitt who most resembles that remark. And then there's his characterization of Obama "hanging onto power."
Mitt, it's time for a talking points makeover. It's time to wash that messy stuff out of your hair and discover the joys of nonscripted attack lines. Why? Because in the old days you were much better at them. In the past, in your last campaign, not this one, you were better on your feet, you were actually invested with your own intellectual energy, misguided as it was. But now? You sound like a puppet.
