Thanks to OEN, I've actually started to at least ask myself the question: Am I really too old to start thinking about a writing career?

Coincidentally (?) I just noticed that Steig Larsson of "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" fame had his first novel published posthumously after he died suddenly at the age of 50. Presumably, the books were written while he was in his mid to late 40s.

And, sure enough, Wikipedia has a "Late Bloomers" article in which we learn how a number of successful writers (and others) weren't first published until well into their 50s, 60s and yes even 70s!

For Wiki's piece on late bloomers in a number of different fields: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Late_bloomer#Writing

PS Okay, okay: so Walt wasn't technically a late bloomer. It's just a great picture...

I am an aspiring mystic with a bit of experience in sales/marketing, currently living in the New York metro area with my books, candles & more books. I believe we, as a civilization, have reached the low ebb of an entire cycle (see "Hindu Yugas" & (more...)
