Scattered but concerning evidence is developing that Covid19 is associated with later multi symptom heart weakening even in those released from hospitalization. I am a nearly 80 year old grandfather. I write to urge others to help keep our youngest children out of school buildings this Fall. They may forget good hand washing, etc. No noble Brutus seems likely to arise to remove the Time waster in Chief. Instead being lemmings, could we not make the states back into re-opening with older kids first?
Yappy Dog Trump's "Go back to school" is the latest of expensive, risky and self-centered wish he had expressed. But he prided himself on being a deal maker. Could We, The People, express this deal: "Hell No! Our Tots Won't Go" until he and our caca Congress actually earmark and deposit in school districts new money to fix the backlog of school maintenance issues (poor ventilation, broken toilets and sinks, mold, etc.?) Insolent Lord McConnell would need to call Congress into session. We should hold our kids home until we can literally see workmen and materials at our schools.
Despite his threat to declare teachers essential workers, I propose a nation-wide parent - teacher, etc. balking or "truancy strike," for a program with new dollars to precede school return. No final payment for work should be made until state Bureaus of Labor and Industry pass the construction.
Come one, come all. Come mothers and fathers and grandparents, older sisters and brothers; teachers, school boards and principals, state legislators, mayors, councils; even TV news influence-rs! Let's raise our voices for fixing schools for our children, now!
