Dear Diary: It's so strange how, at this late date, reputable news magazines and political outlets continue to confuse things regarding the ultimate right of each and every one of us Americans.
If government ever gets off track, becomes a form of institutionalized corruption where only those with money can influence policy, then it is a right of the people of the states to assemble into a non-binding discussion. This is why the convention clause is part of our high law. It takes 2/3, a super-majority, to activate the call from the legislative branch. Once convened, it then takes 3/4, a super-super-majority, of the states to ratify any proposals.
So why is that so difficult to understand? All the convention actually does is create the time and place to formally discuss, find consensus, and propose additions and/or alterations as deemed necessary by 7.5 out of 10 Americans.
