This has occurred to me. Those in power and in control aren't stupid. They would not be in those positions if they were dumb. For some time they have to have known what the fate is of global warming unless they can reverse the causes. And whether they are hidden as illuminati or in secret societies or behind the scenes or even out in the open or wherever making fun of us, I think that maybe now they have their "justifiable" excuse for their "plan." So what I think might make "them" feel good is that their plan to reduce the human population drastically that they may well have felt guilty about, they no longer have to feel guilty about. They now have their rationalization to justify the ends to their means. They can now feel good about their plan feeling they are saving the planet. The solution if it is not too late already is not that hard. Just eliminate 7 billion that are leaving a carbon footprint.
Of course I really do not know if that is in fact their plan. But if the Georgia Guidestones are any indication -- I looked into them a while ago and don't remember really understanding why they were built -- the first line in the message is:
"Maintain humanity under 500,000,000 in perpetual balance with nature."
If indeed they do have a long range plan that they have worked on for a very long time even before they realized what global warming will do, global warming may have become their excuse. I mean I think they and their lineage would like to stick around for quite a while.
