::::::::I posted a response to the beating of Jack Price last week in Queens on another website. Much of the talk in the responses to his beating had to do with the biblical talk of the attackers and how we, the LGBT community, had to go into the churches and tell these people they were wrong. Now there is a winning strategy if ever i heard one.
No one was ever won over by telling them that what they have been taught is wrong. Life is not like that.
What we need to do is write about what is also in the Bible besides all the violence. The calls to love one another and to use that love to build up our communities. To learn to help each other and to feed the poor and to house the homeless and to stop being such judges of each other and just do what we can to help each other.
Life is not a debate club. We need to stop fussing over words, stop thinking we can change people by the force of our own arguments but rather live what the Bible also teaches--love, charity, peacefulness, generosity.
That is more powerful than trying to argue down a ranting crowd.
