Always a fire and never a spark...
We all know of organizations and people that often cry wolf or state everything is an emergency. These organization and individuals are often attention grabbers. They often jump to conclusions without fully understanding all sides of each issue. "First seek to understand" is a foreign concept to these organizations and people.
After a while, we stop to react to these organizations and people because it is the same story which isn't true and the urgency isn't there. There creditability is lessened. Many times these people are extremists or they are part of an organization that has a political agenda.
In recent politics, we have seen politicians that want all Muslims neighborhoods in the U.S. to be monitored because of isolated incidents around the world. Exaggerating and pushing fear into those that will listen. We have had other politicians state that undocumented immigrants are rapists and murders. Basically, "Crying Wolf". Ironically, it was the conservative politicians that allowed undocumented immigrants to come to the US to keep wages low and they used the threat of deportation if they complained about wages or work conditions. If they really wanted to address immigration, they would pass immigration reform legislation and allow undocumented immigrants, US citizenship if they are productive members of the community.
We all have our passions, but everything isn't always an emergency (a fire). Sometimes it is just an issue that we need to address (it is a spark). Some issues touch us deeply because love ones are affected...and it is a fire to us.
When you look at the issues of the day...
...Which are fires, when they should be sparks?
