A forgotten corner when electing any Candidate

Message Kathryn Smith

Hello folks

One thing which may be largely responsible (among others) for the political mess we are in is an obvious oversight on the part of The People.

That is, before going to the polls, to check out the voting record of their chosen Candidate.

And to spread word about it.

To check out what each Candidate has voted for involves reading up about current legislation. And that is the best thing We the People can do to be informed and responsible citizens. Because knowledge is power, and the insights which come from such knowledge can effect change. (I like to read about current legislation on the ACLU's website www.aclu.org, the Center for Constitutional Rights www.ccrjustice.com and Electronic Frontier Foundation www.eff.org )

Another important matter might be to check out who is financing any given Campaign, as indicator of what issues a politicians likely will be bamboozled to stand behind.

And to spread word about it.

There is one obvious way to undercut Any Campaign and Any Official's position in office: BOYCOTTS!

To boycott the entities which are supporting the Candidate, whether prior to their election or after, will send a loud message which cannot be ignored. The pocketbook carries a powerful punch! When the pocketbook is affected, you'll bet that politicians will at last give an ear!

I will admit that I don't have the foggiest idea about how to obtain the information about who is funding who, let alone how to organize a boycott:

DOES ANYBODY HAVE ANY THOUGHTS ABOUT THIS? PLEASE POST BELOW AND/OR START A DISCUSSION THREAD/OR WRITE AN ARTICLE OF YOUR OWN! I'D LOVE TO SEE MORE ABOUT THIS.

Let's spread word. How about contacting your friendly editor right now, urging would-be voters to check the voting records and funding background of their chosen Candidate, and themselves to pass word along about it. The ACLU's website has a Congressional Scorecard button where one can check who voted for which bill www.aclu.org

Thanks everybody!

This quote summarizes the nature of my concerns and the content of personal experiences which stir my activism: "Necessity is the plea for every infringement on human freedom. It is the argument of tyrants; it is the creed of slaves". --Paul (more...)
