I still love OPED and continue to comment. I haven't written for a long time due to health resulting in primarily being in a hospital for 3 weeks and in a rehab for 4. So that's almost 2 full months. Due to economics, my wife and I have brought in renters to share our house (they moved in soon after I went into hospital....thus 2 months of their initial move my wife, Merry handled everything, which I felt bad for.)
Now I'm home, but still experiencing some discomfort. In addition to Alzheimers (which is still progressing slowly, but still progressing) I also have Chrones Disease. Chrones is a nasty disease, as all are. It puts a kick in my backside because I had a girlfriend in the 80's who had it.....she wound up committing suicide. So it was a "double whammy" having been diagnosed with the same disease. Brought back those memories.
Chrones is an intestinal disease, highly painful, but it doesn't necessarily kill you....thus Debbie killed herself in the 80's. Having been with her, I couldn't say I would have done anything different. Having the disease myself, I REALLY know what she was going through. Difference being, with me, I had the opportunity for new medicines and now have the majority of my intestines removed and literally have a bag on my side collecting the feces (or sh*t if you live in the Appalachian region). :)
Anyway, I'll be writing again soon, with some differences. I'm thinking I'm going to go after ways to live bottom - up more so than top-down....developing communities for one is my hope for future generations (e.g., Transition Town). At present, can't give a time, life is chaotic also because of Merry and I having renters and my inability to work...both within the house and in writing. Hopefully this writing is a sign I'm onto a positive change? So, I thought Rob and Meryl Ann as well as some others would be interested.
