A thought about guns again. Nature, including Man, is violent. Some want to transcend violence. Others revel in the violence they control in their hands as toy. Guns once were tools. Now they are phallic, a lift in a shoe, a recreational oddity -- a ripper of substance.

not of

steely chain

Of kindness

Of bright things

before wanting

walked

the earth

Naïve sweet

starchiness of

bread broken

not simply

breaking

gleefully slurping

from ancient

soulful demitasse

Proud hands

torn and knarled

of good

purpose

directed the

child into

the wild

of hungry

panting beasts

Not safe

yet

understanding natural

violence

before

guns
