Diary: 9/11: Infighting on the Left

A poster on a listserve dedicated to the democratization of society responded to my call to burn the 9-11 Commission Report in front of Congress on January 3rd, 2007. Here is the exchange.

"This is conspiracy theory stuff of which we should steer clear. If any explanation is needed, read recent columns by Alexander Cockburn. Besides that, the last group to burn books was the Nazis. Not a tactic we should be imitating."

My response:

I don't want to start a big debate about 9-11 here, but that uninformed post by XXXXXXXXXX requires a rebuttal.

"This is conspiracy theory stuff"

That is an indication that the writer is not serious, and has not taken any time investigating the numerous discrepancies around the government's account of September 11th. Further, it uses the government's (and the president's) own blanket dismissal that "We should never tolerate outrageous conspiracy theories concerning the events of September 11th..." The true outrage is that the government account has holes so wide that the entire world knows there is a cover up. It doesn't take "theories" to prove this, only facts.

The 9-11 event is the pretext upon which the nation has been fundamentally altered, with a National Security Strategy that includes preemptive attacks, preemptive nuclear first strikes, torture, and the erosion of the constitution. Why on earth would thinking people want to "steer clear" of getting at the truth of the matter?

The 9-11 Commission was a cover-up from the beginning, staffed by Washington insiders who agreed not to rock the boat. I can prove this quite easily in a few paragraphs. Many others have done so, and there are numerous books written on the subject by meticulous researchers with more expertise than I.

The Executive Director of the 9-11 Commission was Phillip Zelikow. He was a co-author with Condoleezza Rice before the attacks. Also, he was on the Bush administration transition team in 2000/2001. Now, he works for Rice, again, at the State Department, where he provides legal cover when needed. This man controlled the entire investigation: who was questioned, what was ommitted, and he had the final edit on that book that deserves to be burned.

Some outrageous and incriminating facts came out in the press, that never ended up in the commission report. Among them are:

1) The head of Pakistani Intelligence (ISI), the organization that CREATED AL QAEDA and the Taliban, was caught red handed ordering a $100,000 wire transfer to the alleged "lead hijacker" Mohamed Atta. This was exposed in the Indian press, by the Indian intelligence service who had bugged the ISI chief's cell phone. The ISI chief Ahmad resigned immediately. He is not sought for the mass murders of 9-11 by the FBI. His actions appear nowhere in the 9-11 Commission Report, nor in the version of the Congressional Joint Inquiry released to the public. Ahmad met with senior Bush officials before, during and after the attacks (he was in DC from Sept. 4 throuth the 13th).

2) Norman Mineta's testimony broadcast on C-Span, has been ommitted from the 9-11 Commission Report. Mineta places Dick Cheney in the Presidential Emergency Operations Center by 9:20, and describes the situation where the plane comes into the Pentagon with an "order" questioned by junior officers that appears to allow the attack to happen without interference. The 9-11 Commission Report tells us that Cheney arrived at 9:58, well after the entire incident was history.

3. Sibel Edmonds (a fired FBI translator) met for hours with the Commissioners where she told them that coworkers were deliberately mistranslating documents in order to hide: foreknowledge by FBI of 9-11, drug smuggling, and other important matters. All of her testimony was omitted from the report.

4. The Florida "flight school" was covered up. There existed an ongoing drug smuggling operation. One of the school's planes was busted by DEA with 43 pounds of heroin on board. The pilot was never prosecuted. The FBI has intimidated witnesses including Mohamed Atta's ex-girlfriend Amanda Keller, who tells a far different story than the mainstream media tells. Atta and company ate pork, drank alchohol, had strippers and wild drug parties. This does in no way fit the profile of a highly religious Jihadist. Jeb Bush and his people went to the Venice Florida police station, confiscated ALL the records about the "Flight School", put it on a renal truck, drove the truck onto a C-130 plane, and the records have disappeared.

Needless to say, none of this appears in the 9-11 Commission Report. In addition, Senator Bob Graham admitted that a foreign government assisted the hijackers and that he was unable to name the country. Graham, the head of the Senate Intelligence Committee at the time, and member of the Congressional Joint Inquiry, should know.

These are several of hundreds of facts that have been, and remain covered up, and unexplained by the current regime.

I'm sure those colonists who burned King George III in effigy were similarly Nazis.

"Not a tactic we should be imitating."

It's one of the strongest, and non-violent, messages a small crowd can send. What's important is the photo-opportunity it will provide. TV News is image driven. If you don't provide new and unique images to communicate your cause, you will not get air time. This is a tactic with many plusses, and several minuses. It's not for everyone.
