Dissent, No Shame

- As the media has grinded to a sickening halt to cover irrelevant
memos about facts we already know, this country continues to be put
under the thumb of George W. Bush and his police state. We have all
heard the stories over the past few years, getting worse as time
marches on. We had stories about people arrested just for expressing
their inalienable right to speak, to express their opinion. A lot of
these stories have crossed the line, but none more egregious than
the story today from
Hamilton
,
New Jersey
.

- Today Laura Bush visited
New Jersey
to smile for the cameras and pimp her husband to the voters. She was
visiting a fire house, conducting a rally. Laura was borrowing the
stump speech from her husband, pretending the economy is on the
rebound and people are not dying every day in
Iraq
. The crowd was eating it up as usual, because they are all screened
before hand. Unfortunately for Laura, the screeners missed on
person, Sapir Niederer.

- Mrs. Niederer was wearing a shirt that spelled out her problem
with the Bush administration. It simply read:

- “President Bush You Killed My Son"

- Also on the shirt was a photo of her son, Army 1st Lt. Seth Dvorin,
who was killed in
Iraq
in February while trying to disarm a bomb at the ripe old age of 24.
As the lunatic fringe cries of “four more years” died down,
there was Mrs. Niederer, expressing her RIGHT to free speech and
protest. She began to shout about the killing of her son and wanted
an answer from Mrs. Bush about why Jenna and Barbara were not
enlisted if this was such a just war. Fair question one would think.
Either way, I would hope that most could at least understand the
grief and the anger, especially since it has become all too obvious
that George Bush lied to send her son to war. Unfortunately, not all
have any sense of this feeling, or even a sense of shame. One rabid
Bush-lover was heard shouting back at the woman who had lost her
son, “your son chose to fight in that war!” The insensitivity
and stupidity of that comment not withstanding, what happened next
defines life in George W. Bush’s
America
.

- You see that was when the secret service decided to violate Ms.
Niederer’s constitutional rights. They dragged her from the
firehouse, still wrapped in her grief, handcuffed her, and arrested
her. Ms. Niederer was heard asking the men what she was being
charged with, which is again, her right in this country. She had to
wait until she was taken in to discover she was being arrested for
“defiant trespassing”.

- The woman went to a public firehouse, to see a public event, and
even had a ticket. So, how exactly was she “defiantly
trespassing”? The obvious answer is that she wasn’t. However,
when you are part of the Bush cartel, honest dissent is not
tolerable. This shameless abuse of presidential power should send a
sharp warning to those even considering voting for this man. I want
you to take a close look at the pictures of the arrest at this link:

- She looks real dangerous, doesn’t she? This is what your country
has denigrated to. This is life under the rule of George W. Bush. Is
this what you voted for? That a grieving mother who has the right to
speak and protest is DRAGGED AWAY IN CUFFS, lest she offend the
graces of Queen Laura? The woman lost her child. He died fighting a
war that now is clearly not part of the war on terror and had
nothing to do with WMD. Can you honestly blame her for being upset?
Did she deserve to be shackled? Does this administration have any
shame?

- Not convinced, how about the tale of Summer Starr? Summer Starr is
a 21 year old citizen from
Hawaii
who was visiting NYC during the Republican National Convention. She
was not even protesting when the police arbitrarily arrested her in
a sweep. They brought her to a pier, rented out by the GOP! There
she was bound and kept for DAYS without being charged, given the
opportunity to call anyone or have access to a lawyer. What country
is it that we live in again?

- In squalid conditions she was held captive for days before being
released, covered in the grease that was prevalent in the warehouse.
She was only released after a judge held the NYC Police Department
in contempt of court for holding thousands of people in this
warehouse without processing them. She was cited for disorderly
conduct, for WALKING IN THE STREET. To make matters worse, the city
would not allow her to settle it before she went home, meaning they
are requiring her to return to NYC, from
Hawaii
, to face the trumped up, fascist charges. I bring this up as just
another example of what we have sunk to under this regime. The local

- These are only two examples of the Bush cabal and their attempts
to militarize the police and abuse the secret service to protect
them from dissent. Remember that whenever you see president Bush on
the campaign trail. The stops are all choreographed and scripted.
Only supporters are welcome. Every now and again, a grieving mother
may find her way past the secret police, but her voice will soon be
crushed by a president who will not tolerate dissent and has no
shame.
