Holy Abu Ghraib!! What must all those terrorists be thinking?!
First, they brutally murder almost 3,000 people in the 9/11 WTC and
Pentagon attacks. In retaliation, their enemy inexplicably attacks
uninvolved Saddam Hussein and Iraq, turning what was once a hated secular
state, ideologically opposed to groups like al-Qaeda, into a veritable
hot-bed of nationalist fervor on the one hand and fundamentalist Islamic
terrorist activity on the other.
Suicidal new recruits from Muslim countries all over the world are
either blowing themselves up or begging to be next. The civilian and
military death tolls in Iraq and elsewhere are steadily mounting, and the
fear and anxiety terrorists are determined to spread is gripping whole
nations by the throat (or a bit lower in some cases). Recently on ‘The
Daily Show with Jon Stewart’, analyst and author Fareed Zakaria claimed
that most of the terrorist attacks occurring these days are being
perpetrated by groups other than al-Qaeda. If this is any indication of
BushCo’s ‘progress’ in the war on terror, instead of our fighting
one relatively large and conspicuous global terrorist network, we’ll be
forced to confront and eliminate perhaps dozens of smaller, stealthier,
more independent, desperate, and dangerous groups.
BushCo’s categorically failed policies have advanced the terrorists’
agenda by leaps and bounds (the recent pictures of Bush’s torture
chambers and rape rooms haven’t helped), doing in several years what
they couldn’t have done themselves in several decades
broadened their brutal scope of influence, violently re-upset the Middle
East, turned America’s Western European allies against us and each
other, eroded much of our international standing and credibility, forced
us to spread our military forces ever-so-thinly, and shown the world that
America, despite its hugely obscene military and ‘Homeland Security’
budgets, arrogant swagger, and stinkless shit, is as vulnerable as ever.
You wanna know what those terrorists are thinking?
They’re thinking Bush/Cheney ’04. Please, please, please!!!
Thanks to their ersatz Iraq Crusade’s distracting from the real war
on terror and W’s assurances that we’ll ‘stay the course’, not ‘cut
and run’, and ‘maintain our resolve’ there (big words for a National
Guard No-Show), BushCo’s re-election is now anti-American terrorism’s
best friend. If BushCo is re-installed, there will be no end to the
self-destructive policies killing a steady stream of soldiers, contractors
(read: hired mercenaries), and innocents daily. Terrorists will be so
lousy with prime grade-A global targets, they’ll be holding meetings on
what not to attack.
Sadly, with Diebold voting machines, most of largely compliant and
slothful conservative corporate media, and widespread public ignorance
about all things important on their side, the November election may be a
Tenet-like slam-dunk
Terrorists have to be ecstatic that, thanks to BushCo’s top
executives, they’re only the second, third, or fourth most dangerous
group in the world (BushCo’s firmly at #1, so 2 through 4 are toss-ups
between sundry terrorists, the North Koreans, and Ariel Sharon’s
Israel). Further, their enemy is aiding them by gladly and righteously
doing all it can to re-elect these danger-mongering fanatics. They must
shake their heads in astonished disbelief as the parade of whistleblowers;
Paul O’Neill, Richard Clarke, Bob Woodward, and former ambassador Joseph
Wilson, are dismissed by the majority of Americans as sour-grape-eating
partisan hacks with axes to grind.
Instead, most Americans numbly acquiesce to BushCo’s latest fantasy
tales.
And if all that doesn’t make the terrorists cream their collective
robes in a monster terror-gasm, they’ll pop their corks when they
realize they’re winning their terror war here, too. Yes, the same BushCo
who has incompetently befriended them globally is also doing their bidding
right here in the good ol’ US of A. Witness the relentless erosion of
civil rights and the morphing of the US from secular republic to
theocratic plutocracy (or is that plutocratic theocracy?). The continual
denial or warping of basic American freedoms are trumpeted by right
wingnuts as the cost of ever-elusive ‘national security’, freedom, and
liberty, but each loss represents instead a corruption of the uniquely
American identity that the pre-9/11 world, to a great degree, respected
and admired.
It’s gravy that the terrorists’ actions are prompting BushCo to not
only destroy domestic democracy, but also fulfill the apocalyptic
aspirations of their more nutty supporters who believe Christianity and
The West are on a collision course with Islam and The East. Casting this
power/money grabbing nonsense as the fulfillment of some bogus religious
prophecy is a double-edged sword. While it certainly drums up support
among BushCo’s fundamentalist and fatalistic ‘base’ to continue
their murdering unabated, it also fans the conflagration of American
hatred abroad, swelling the already burgeoning ranks of both veteran and
neophyte terrorist groups.
One thing’s for sure: if you’re a good Islamic terrorist, you’re
praying to Allah for Bush’s re-election.
