VENEZUELA: Hugo Chavez' big mouth! Woops ... he's gone and done it again!
Years ago it might have taken days for Chavez' rasher statements to reach the disbelieving ears of Europeans, North Americans or even those in Asia and elsewhere in the Pacific who give a damn about what's happening along southern Caribbean shores. The time differential and the cost of reporting trivialities were not unsubstantial and lunacies were kind of expected from faraway places.

Gideon Levy: Israel is lying to itself about 'united Jerusalem'
And the prime minister has told us other lies, such as "our commitment to protect freedom of worship for all the religions in Jerusalem, and to ensure fair and equal treatment for the city's residents, Jews and Arabs alike." Freedom of worship? It's a sad joke. In no other city is access to holy places restricted.

Have the Media 'Falsely Framed' ACORN?
During its four decades of community organizing, ACORN has earned the ire of certain business groups, banks and pay-day lenders, and and the Republican Party. Their attack on ACORN is part of a broader conservative effort to discredit Barack Obama -- first as a candidate, then as President.

ZIHOP as Limited Hangout
The Military Industrial Complex did not arise from some flaw in the American character, nor indeed from Zionism. It arose, simply put, because capital requires more capital, power more power still. Powerful states act out. “Small states are virtuous only because of their weakness.” (Bakunin).

Newspaper circulation may be worse than it looks
While U.S. newspapers are losing subscribers at a staggering rate, a few dailies stand out because their circulation is rising. But they aren't necessarily selling more copies. Under the new auditing standards, if a newspaper sells a "bundled" subscription to both the print and electronic editions, the publication is often allowed to count that subscriber twice.

Part Two: Talking with Investigative Journalist Margie Burns on Health Care (6 comments)
The question to ask opponents of health care reform legislation should be simple and clear: Are you in favor of letting carriers get away with bad-faith practices such as denying claims fraudulently? Not answering their phones? Not explaining denials to policyholders? No? Then how do you propose to deal with the problem?

Talking with Investigative Journalist Margie Burns on Health Care
The WP in particular, the paper I get, went for decades without mentioning insurance bad faith.Literally:I checked LexisNexis, and the last time the Post mentioned bad faith in insurance was 1986.These big newspapers produce the reports that other newspapers in turn run, and they own other papers,or their parent companies do.Hasn't worked out well for the mid-Atlantic. None of this has worked out well for policyholders.
