You're right that if this talk grows, he could end up the Democratic nominee because of fear that he'll run against Hillary in the general.
Interesting notion. It certainly gives him more leverage in talking to those supers.
BTW, your point about the south is a good one -- those are many of the states where the Greens are not on the ballot, so that doesn't matter. In the remaining states outside the south where the Greens aren't on the ballot, there may well be parties like Peace&Freedom out west or the Working People's Party in New York and PA who could give him their line, and in the few remaining places where he wouldn't get a party line, he can hire legal staff to fight for an independent line or to get the Greens listed. I think he's definitely got a shot.
But if he doesn't go for it, the key will be bringing a million Sandernistas to Philly to demand it in the streets. I think if he sees that level of support and passion, it will change his mind. He doesn't need to run for Senate again, with four more years to his current term, and if he does this, he will go down in history as a people's hero. Who needs to be friends with the corporate scum in the Senate against that?
