Obama makes me miss George Bush and Dick Cheney! At least they were usually honest. That is not the same as not being criminals, delusional and insane. Like many Republicans they made no secret that they believed that they were on a mission for the American way and God.
The neocons were honest in their quest for an American empire and believed that it was good for the world, as well as the elites' pocketbooks. McCain makes no secret that he wants to "bomb, bomb, bomb" Iran, as well as Libya, Syria and even Russia. Even nitwits like Sarah Palin seems honest in her ignorant lunacy.
When Bush and Cheney lied they told true-lies. Bush probably believed that invading Iraq and 6 other countries in the Middle East in 5 years would spread democracy, capitalism and freedom. Nor was it a secret that Cheney wanted the oil and blatantly handed out no-bid contracts to his firm Halliburton.
Most of the Democrats such as Obama, Hillary, Kerry and the liberal interventionists are much more devious, which makes them even more dangerous. They don't really believe their own lies, and sugar coat them for the public. They pretend to care about the middle class but they are really only interested in feathering their own nests by enriching the oligarchs and corporate elites. Since the middle class no longer care about the poor, the Democratic shills don't need to either, except with an occasional lip service.
Obama deserves no credit whatsoever for not bombing Syria. His strategy was the same, only the tactics were different. Obama's tactics were even crueler than the quick death of bombing. He used the hidden hand to drag out a war of attrition and destruction for over 5 years and still counting. Obama was content to sit back and let each side kill off the other, while the human tragedy for civilians boiled over.
Obama let the American people and even progressives off the hook of feeling responsible for their inaction to stop the killing. The media lies told the American people that Assad was destroying his own country and killing his own people, as if he were a suicidal maniac.
Intelligent people easily figured out the truth, but progressives had little stomach for taking to the streets in protest as long as they had a "moderate Democrat" in the White House. And those that spoke and acted out ran into a brick wall of media and right-wing lies. The American people were content with their ignorance and apathy anyway. Most of the American people like and agree with an authoritarian government that will crush protesters, demonstrators and other troublemakers.
No I won't miss Obama. I despise him even more than Bush or McCain---Romney is just a phony and not worth the bother. Obama deserves no credit for the war crimes he did not commit, just as I do not deserve credit for not being a serial killer.
Obama deserves to be condemned and punished for the war crimes and crimes against humanity that he did commit. That the next president could be worse is no excuse for forgiving and missing Obama.
