The coup and assassination of Muammar Gaddafi was such a thinly veiled phony U.S. operation that everyone in the main stream media must have (or should have) known that it was a CIA/State Dept/Hillary/Obama project.

After the media circus over Benghazi and the death of Ambassador Stevens I smelled a rat and did a little research. It didn't take much digging to unravel that the US/CIA had been working on contingency plans for the overthrow of Gaddafi for decades. I wrote about it in an article for The Real News Network in November 2012 ("Benghazi-gate": A Window into the Secret War in Libya by the CIA). Looking back it turns out that I got most of it correct.

After Gaddafi was assassinated, the US tried to install a transitional government in Libya. The leaders were Libyans that had been living in London and the US for decades, just as Chris reports about Khalifa Hifter. As Chris say, the main front organization was named the " National Front for the Salvation of Libya", that then became the "National Transitional Council" headed by Mohamed Magariaf.

Magariaf had been part of a failed Gaddafi assignation attempt in the early 1980's and then lived in the US for decades. Another leader was Ali Tarhouni. Tarhouni had lived in the US since 1973 and received his Ph.D. in economics at Michigan State University. Abdurrahim El-Keib was another---he left Libya in 1976 and was a professor of electrical engineering at the University of Alabama. They and others all were part of the CIA front called the National Front for the Salvation of Libya. It should have been called the "National Front for the Destruction of Libya".

Anyone who takes a little effort can see past the thin US veneer of "humanitarian intervention and the R2P" and see that Libya is another US war crime that has destroyed a country that previously had the highest standard of living in Africa. Instead the main stream media just keeps repeating the Obama administration talking points---or the Republican talking points that Hillary should have provided more security for Ambassador Stevens.
