Why aren't these organizations "all over" S.1959? Please join me in writing them!

By Kathryn Smith

There still is hope. Here a few new ideas for what we can do:

::::::::

Dear friends

Here is an action alert:

A) First, please call your own Senator and ask them to vote "no" on S.1959, the Homegrown Terrorism and Violent Radicalization Act "and for other purposes".

Be sure to ask them to promise a filibuster!

B) Send emails asking other friends to do the same

C) Target your local college newsletters and independent newspapers, asking them to do a report/action alert

D) PLEASE JOIN ME IN WRITING THE FOLLOWING ACTIVIST ORGANIZATIONS,  URGING THEM TO GATHER SIGNATURES FOR SENATORS TO "JUST SAY NO" TO S. 1959. AS PART OF THE PETITION, ASK THESE ORGANIZATIONS TO ENLIST THE PROMISES OF SENATORS TO FILIBUSTER THE BILL IF PASSED:

~Moveon.org   www.moveon.org you'll have to go through a series of steps to get to the "Contact us" link. First go to the contact button, then follow the series of steps (you'll be directed) but you finally will get there.

~ACLU www.aclu.orgaction@aclu.org is the email address to Caroline Frederickson's office, national legislative director of the ACLU.

The ACLU has been "working on" Congress regarding this bill for the past year, yet has not circulated an e-mail petition. Please ask them to gather membership signatures, immediately, to be submitted to the Senate, who also will be asked to promise a filibuster as part of the petition.

~True Majority Just google their website, press the "contact" button and email them

Center for Constitutional Rights www.ccrjustice.com or www.centerforconstitutionalrights.com  press the "contact" button and you'll be able to email them.

~Credo/Working Assets info@credoaction.com ; citizenaction@credoaction.com

To get our activist organizations involved in signature-gathering is our hope.

And to get our colleges and students involved in writing to Senators, exposing the issues, is also part of the hope.

Our independent media are much more likely to do a report/action alert than the mainstream news. Please contact your local newspaper, college newsletter editor, and alternative media source and ask them to do a report. TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE: THIS BILL MAY BE FAST-TRACKED IN THE SENATE. LET THEM KNOW WHEN YOU CONTACT THESE ENTITIES!

And here a list of proactive things we can do, with a superb letter to a Senator for model:

Thank you for helping and taking action.
