Is There Any Wonder Why Cyber Hacking Against U.S. Interests is Growing?
By Dave Lefcourt
U.S. universities are reporting millions of hacking attempts from China. Then there's the cyberattacks on U.S. corps. Obama complained to China of organized cybertheft of trade secrets. The Chinese pointed to revelations of American spying. Recall it was the U.S. & Israel that initiated cyberwarfare in 2010 disabling Iranian computers controlling the enrichment of uranium.Any wonder why its happening against U.S. interests now?
Plan view of NSA Data Center in Bluffdale, Utah.
Ah, the cyber wars are here in earnest.
The latest has research universities in the U.S. reporting millions of hacking attempts on their computer networks weekly, most supposedly from China, this according to an article in yesterday's New York Times by Richard Perez-Pena titled, "Universities Face a Rising Barrage of Cyberattacks".
Then of course there's the cyberattacks on the computer networks of large U.S. corporations, also attributed to China. When the Obama administration complained to China "of organized cybertheft of trade secrets", Chinese officials pointed "to revelations of American spying".
And what those Chinese officials are saying is the real kicker in all this cyber hacking, cyber snooping warfare.
Remember, it was the U.S. along with Israel that initiated cyber warfare when it sent a computer worm called "Stuxnet" to disrupt and disable Iranian computers that controlled the enriching of uranium in 2010.
Now with Edward Snowden's revelations of the NSA's illegal snooping and data mining programs capturing all electronic communications in the world, is there any wonder there's cyber hacking against U.S. interests, whether it be U.S. corporations and universities which seems to be growing exponentially.
What's always fascinating, remarkable, galling in reading these corporate media articles, there's never any mention of U.S. complicity in initiating the modern day cyber warfare.
It's not as if it's a state secret, not anymore with WikiLeaks, Bradley Manning and now Snowden shining the light on U.S. initiated malfeasance.
It's why the U.S. corporate controlled media is a disgrace in not reporting the full truth to the American people.
Ideally, one would like to sympathize with universities concerns of the cyber attacks against them. Yet consider; when the government of that countries universities is the primary law breaker in perpetrating cyber warfare (which of course that government refuses to acknowledge its culpability and the corporate media remains mum about) and the universities are also in bed with that government receiving millions in grants from the federal government to conduct research that helps foster the growth of the national security state, those universities are abetting the governments illegality, yet hide behind their ivy covered walls acting as innocents that have been wronged.
Sorry, but university complaints of cyber attacks against them fall on deaf ears here, knowing their complicity in abetting their government's illegal activities.
Sadly my alma mater, the University of Maryland appears to be a frontrunner in the cyber warfare game offering degrees in cyber security and IT technology (presumably training neophytes as future NSA cyber spooks). It makes one want to burn their degree in disgust.
