Ron Paul Certified as an Official Write-In Presidential Candidate in California

By Ralph Lopez

Paul has repeatedly lambasted both Obama and Romney for their pursuit of government powers to hold US citizens in military detention without charge or trial indefinitely. Paul says the NDAA, a common acronym for the National Defense Authorization Act of 2011, violates the Constitution and the Bill of Rights. Paul also criticizes both parties for engaging in "foreign adventures."

Ron Paul supporters have met the official requirements set out by the state of California for Dr. Paul to be a certified write-in presidential candidate in California.  State law required 55 write-in presidential electors to file with the California Secretary of State by last October 23rd.

The status means that Dr. Paul's write-in votes in California will be counted and reported out by election officials the same as if Paul were on the ballot.  With the largest number of presidential electors in the nation, 55, any large write-in vote for Dr. Paul will likely attract national attention.

Paul also criticizes both parties for engaging in "foreign adventures."  Paul opposes military action against Iran.

California requires official write-in candidates to list a vice presidential running mate.  Paul's certification lists Judge Andrew Napolitano.

Other states being targeted by Paul supporters for strong write-in votes are Iowa, New Hampshire, Maine, and Wisconsin.  Other third party candidates running include the Constitution Party's Virgil Goode, former Salt lake City Mayor Rocky Anderson, and Green Party candidate Dr. Jill Stein.  Stein won praise for courage from many Paul supporters last month after she was arrested protesting the exclusion of major third party candidates from debates.  Stein, a medical doctor, and her vice presidential candidate, Cheryl Honkala, were handcuffed to chairs for over eight hours by police.
