The first point that needs to be made is that the video plainly misrepresents what Scott Lively said so I left a comment on the  Youtube  page pointing out the distinction between his use of the phrase 'single definitive study', and the video's use of the phrase 'hundreds of studies suggesting'.

Secondly following the 'Jews on First', link, which reports of a Gay Pride parade led by inter-faith groups representing the Sacramento Pride & Faith Community, there is an argument for an Establishment Church reflecting these views not only in the US but in the UK and Europe also. Such a Church would reflect civil legislation in religious terms. The Church would be democratic as opposed to theocratic in essence which presents problems not only in terms of how far the Libertine agenda extends but also in terms of the abortionist debate which could easily morph into a lobby for infanticide. Just as bisexuality could morph into a lobby for polygamy which would effectively become an endorsement of tribal living.

Whatever ones attitudes to these debates the fact is they are live and ongoing. Rather than resisting them those driving the debates need to be drawn into a rational and reflective process of debate consistent with the notion of promoting 'values'. An Establishment Church would of course pay for its mistakes as the Roman Catholic Church has should it produce victims in time. And one would hope Google and other Internet search engines would also. As it stands no-one advocating these new standards will ever pay a penny for errors of judgement. If any good came from the abuse scandals affecting the Roman Catholic Church it was the precedent which was established in terms of the payment of compensation and prosecutions which arose and that is at least one standard that needs to be maintained .
