What Banner Will Unite Progressives?

It is clear after the last election that if progressives cannot unite under a single banner, our divergent efforts will tend to cancel each other out. We will need unity more than ever in 2012.

With unity a necessity, and compromise, at least among progressives, necessary to attain unity, how will progressives unite.

It's instructive to note that enough responses are provided to ensure that we see no unity here, but maybe, just maybe, it can be a stumbling first half step to start the conversation.

How will progressives deal with these circumstances?

Form a coalition of organizations, maintaining unique identities under a new single name.
Unite under the Democratic banner for at least one election.
Unite under the Green Party banner for at least one election
Start a new progressive political party.

A stiff dose of Republican reality, however bloody, is what America needs to wake up.
Forget all this nonsense, I've got a better idea. You'll see it in the comment thread.
