Red Letter Day: I Wrote My Pelosi Letter, You Write Yours

Yesterday I wrote that even if it were a myth that Nancy Pelosi would change her mind about impeaching Bush and Cheney if she got 10,000 hand-written letters encouraging her to do so, there was no reason why we still shouldn't write to her.

It sounded like a plan to me and it still does.

A promise from Pelosi or not, if her office were flooded with letters, at least she'd know the polls calling for the Bush/Cheney impeachment aren't skewed, aren't a pollster's lie, aren't a figment of some blogger's imagination.

I advise people to write "Impeach Bush/Cheney Now" on the outside of the envelope, and put a very short note inside.

We don't have to write a novel to let our feelings be known.

Plan B:  While we're at it...pop for a second envelope and stamp and send one to John Conyers, too.  He suddenly seems to have gotten cold feet about starting impeachment proceedings, which he brought up himself before the Democrats took over Congress.

I've revised Plan B to include Dennis Kucinich and tell him we are supporting his impeachment efforts.

Later today RainbowLow will launch a Web site called "Letters 2 Nancy" where they are encouraging folks to scan the letters they send, and they will publish them on the Web as an inspiration to others to do the same.

They will also be adding links to Dennis Kucinich's campaign and new TV program, as well as to Cindy Sheehan for Congress.

For your writing convenience:

Rep. Nancy Pelosi

Cannon House Office Bldg.

Washington, D.C. 20515

Rep. John Conyers
2426 RHOB
Rayburn House Office Bldg.
Independence Avenue & S. Capitol Street, SW
Washington, D.C. 20515

Rep. Dennis Kucinich
2445 RHOB
Rayburn House Office Bldg.
Independence Avenue & S. Capitol Street, SW
Washington, D.C. 20515

I got these addresses out of C-Span's 2007 U.S. Congressional Directory.
Honestly, I don't know where the best place is to write representatives and senators, at their D.C. offices or their local offices.  Their local addresses can be found on their individual Web sites.

I've hand-written my envelopes, stamped and mailed them.  The ball's in your court now.

If we do nothing, nothing will get done.
