Is FCC Chairman Kevin Martin trying to pull a fast one in Pennsylvania?

Is FCC Chairman Kevin Martin trying to pull a fast one in Pennsylvania?

He has just revealed last-minute details for a daytime FCC hearing on media ownership in Harrisburg. Here's the shocker: The meeting is in three days -- on Friday, February 23.

The Chairman neglected to give the public enough advance notice to attend this public hearing, including failing to announce the location of the event until the last moment. Why? Maybe he's afraid of what you might have to say about media consolidation.

Let Martin hear your concerns. Please come to Friday's FCC hearing:

Date: Friday, Feb. 23, 2007
Time: 9:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.
Venue: Whitaker Center, Sunoco Performance Theater
Address: 222 Market Street, Harrisburg, Pa. (Click here for directions)

Take time out of your busy schedule to join us in Harrisburg and let Chairman Martin know that the public won't be overlooked or ignored. We need hundreds of concerned citizens from across Pennsylvania to speak out in response to the FCC's plans to change the rules so a few big companies can swallow up more local media outlets.

Your input at the hearing will help shape the future of our media. The hearing is free and open to the public and will feature an open microphone session for you tell the FCC how the media are serving your community.

Tell us whether you plan to attend the Harrisburg hearing

The Harrisburg event is the third of six proposed hearings. Thousands attended the first two official hearings in Los Angeles and Nashville. They overwhelmingly expressed their opposition to any rule changes that would let Big Media companies get even bigger.

Make your voice heard. Join us on Feb. 23.

Onward,
